Different people have different preferences.
Im building a similar system to what you are looking for.
Ive got a Pioneer MP3 headunit (want to change to an Alpine one though)
Alpine T420 amplifier which is going to run Focal components (gains on the amp will be turned down so I dont fry the speakers)
Alpine MRD-M300 mono amp which runs the Alpine 10" DVC sub
Then Ive got an Autoleads 4 gauge wiring kit with distribution blocks etc.
Cant comment on the sound as its not all in yet, hoping its gonna sound good quality once its up and running!
Other people can probably suggest better systems than mine though. Mines set me back about £800ish but that doesnt include the sound deadening

personally, i would get a pioneer 77mp (sound quality over flashy shite) plus it can be had for about 200 quid from CAD.
But yes, the rainbows craig pointed out are mint mate But then you need an amp around the 150-200wRMS for the comps, which isn't going to be cheap. Though personally i would get a Genesis 2 Ultra or a JL 300 or something - around the 300 quid mark.
Then get a decent JL sub and amp going (should set you around the 400-500 quid mark) and then spend the rest on soundproofing and decent cabling
But that would be a pretty sweet setup

thanks guys, i had the pioneer p77 in my first corsa, and i loved it, then i went to the pioneer 8600 in my last corsa, i do like pioneer stuff.
was lookin at the 9855R and ive seen it for £275 inc delivery!
lovin those components, was thinking of focals what you reckon?
will these fit ok into the doors with the autoleads adaptors?
not sure about the pioneer amp and the sub n amp package, the sub looks a bit naff and the amp cant be up to too much if it only had a 12guage wiring kit.
any more suggestions?

Ive asked about whether the Focals fit behind the speaker grills before and got told they are too deep so will need a custom pod so as that they clear the windows when they are wound down

The max mounting depth in the Corsa is 64mm
This is what it says for the Rainbows: 65 / 63 mm Mounting depth
Depending on the size of the magnet you may also have problems getting it through the metal hole in the door but Im not sure on that one! Not sure if they will fit or not TBH

tbh, as soon as you starting hitting 6.5" comps, you will generally have problems with mounting depths aswell as the magnet size (which tbh, will deffo require you to cut the hole in the door bigger).
Personally, if you can get a decent sub setup in the back, then you can easily get away with 5" comps up front, and majority of them will be less than the 64mm mounting depth and will fit under the standard grills just fine - although i would suggest cutting the grills out, as they can catch on the rubber surround of the woofer etc.
as for the headunit mate, unless you can save up more cash then i really wouldnt spend any extra 70 quid on an alpine, especially as i would say it nearly on par with some of the more expensive alpine stuff, though a bigger display on the unit would be nice
