Ok, my girlfriends dad's friend has offered me his 15" alloy wheels (i think they're the standard ones?) for only £80, and as im always looking for cheap ways to make my car look better, i thought this was quite good.
Now, I dont really understand these tyre sizes very much but apparently they are "205/50/15", and whilst the friend thinks these will go straight on (as they are vauxhall ones), my the gf's dad reckons they wont fit, because they're much bigger, and also the insurance company wont like them being that big?
I havent a clue if either of these are right but it'd be fantastic if i could whack the wheels/tyres on and not have to buy new tyres or anything and they wont hit the wheel arches/make my speedo off by 300 mph lol.
Who is right? The friend who is trying to flog them to me or gf's dad? Also, does anyone have any pictures of them on a corsa?

those are the wheels. better than my 13" corsa standard ones anyway, lol

The wheels are a good fitment but the tyres are a bit on the large side. They'll go on but you really need to reduce the width to 195 and the profile to 50 or preferable 45.
The car will also need lowering to make it look its best.

do you have lowered suspension?
they will bolt straight on, and you should be ok at standard ride height, but you'd be far better off with lower profile tyres on them and dropping the suspension slightly.
here's a pic of calibra 15's with 205/50's
195/45 is a much better size.

my car is standard suspension. how much does it cost to get it lowered?

Sell the 205s on eBay or MIG or somewhere Calibra / Cav related.
Lowering, 80 quid for cheap springs? Couple of hours labour fitting them and tracking the car.

ah, selling the old ones, genius idea, i didnt think of that! lol.
might look into lowering afterwards then. depending if i actaully have any money!

actually, no. thinking about it they were 205/55, so even worse than what you have.
it was lowered yeah 40/60. fronts got the arch liners slightly on full lock, and the rears caught the arch bolts overs bumps even with no passengers.

Don't even consider leaving the 205s on, they're hooooooooge.

Buy new tyres, sell the old to a Calibra owner to cover some of the cost.

might just cover the cost of decent 195/45's
