Maybe a daft question, but how do you insure it with the cage? When I bought one for my old Nova many years ago, nearly all insurers refused to cover me with a 6pt cage fitted.

Brentacre will cover it at no extra charge.

Good thing about a cage is, even if you do roll it, as long as the cage isn't bent it should still be driveable

Most insurers cover cages nowadays, albeit expensive for most!

Just got the car back, 3 hour round trip, long! Love it though. Love looking through the side & seeing the bars everywhere. Making me want it white so it sticks out even more

Is it not painted yet? Probably not wise to leave it too long to arrange that.

No mate not painted yet. He said £70 to paint it black but I didn't want it black do I'll get it done myself. But I don't want to leave it too long anyway, will mostly show it to mates a couple of times then take it all out to prep for painting the floor

I think black really would look awesome.. Failing that then silver to match wheels.. Failing that then red to match car.. White will look strange imo

But as said may look good in real life

Having seen the cage now, it looks fiddly to fit & I could see the cage/floor being marked when it's in but I suppose you just have to be careful. As I say I'll see, still plenty of prep to do which I want to crack on with and get it all finished properly

Don't leave it bare metal, it'll rust almost immediately.

Shouldn't be that bad, the car gets warm & isn't damp. It will only be surface rust & the cage will probably get shot blasted if need be

I have been tempted to remove the rear part and give it a quick spray with rattle cans I've got lying around to get an idea of colours but it might make spraying longer when it comes to it properly

I'll just prep the rest of the car anyway, gotta go borrow a heat gun again now

Decided on painting it red as it will match in with the car. After sitting in the car and looking at it this seems the most 'right' colour

Cleaned it up today and got a few SLR shots as I haven't taken any yet...
