Can't believe it mate.
Absolutely gutted for you.
Haven't posted much on the site but i have read and followed the project thread from start to end.
Such a shame that someone elses lack of concentration leads to this.

Gutted mate, We've just fixed my bro's car as he smashed up the rear end. Boot floor was creased, rear panel was pushed in and the tailgate split at the seems & moved the brackets so it didn't shut or line up straight.

Might be worth buying back and repairing yourself over winter?

that sucks big time, i really really didnt expect them to say it was a write off, didn't look overly bad from the photos.

How much have the quoted you to fix it?

bring it to me i'll fix it mate lol

or paul w will do it for you i spose, weve all had this problem unfortunatly.

my floor was caved in aswell and its now all sorted, why dont you fix it yourself mate its ease enough to do

post up some pice of behind the bumper, what the rear panel looks like..

does the tail gait close ok or is the panel the latch pin sits on been pushed back?

and also what speed did the woman hit you at and were you stationary or moving slowly?

Let them write it off, get them to pay out loads for it then buy it back, strip it and get a better car.

I agree or even just repair it with the money and spend the rest on added bits

added just looked at the photos, is that all
Ye they will most prob right it off i recon, but buy it back (demand you want the salvage off the car) have the back panel pushed out (if any) and throw a bumper on. job done

Really sorry to hear this shaun, loads of people including myself have followed your progress since day one, I even remember before you where premium and I still had the 1.0 and we where talking about exhausts for your car.

You could like some have said let them write it off and buy it back, or as some others have said buy a 1.6 sport in white.

I know how i felt about my 1.0 when it was in its prime, loved the car to bits and if you feel the same way about yours then you have an attatchment to the car.
You just need to think mate about your options and what you would like to do.

Good luck mate

Thanks support everyone Got some serious thinking to do now. The car has a huge sentimental value to me. Its been my dream to do my engine conversion and eventually try for a feature, maybe it wasn't meant to be?

If the insurance decide nothing can be done I'll be buying it back whatever happens, its not getting away from me that easy I'll have to decide whether to repair it or split it. Obviously I'd love to return it to its former self and take it to the next level but is it worth it? If I do decide to repair it I wont be using it as an everyday car anymore. Cant have this happen again

Wouldnt buy another white one, I know this probably sounds daft but for me it just wouldn't be the same car for me.

The crash is just another story to go with the feature

Its understandable you wouldn't go for another white one as you will always be comparing things.

Same with my old Green one, I regret selling it locally as I always see it about, he rags the living hell out of it, seen him trying to attempt a wheel spin the other day and letting his mates have a go.
I shouldn't be bothered as I got good money for it which is what matters, but can't help but think to myself that it will be on ebay shortly for spares and repairs, worse thing is I would be tempted to buy it back cheaper

you shouldnt need to buy it back if its a complete loss on someone else's insurance as its your car, my gf got to keep hers for no charge when a drunk crashed into the back of it and wrote it off
