Notes from the press conference to address the Benoit double homicide-suicide:
Lt. Tommy Pope:
-- The Sheriff's Department received a call for a welfare check (from WWE) at 2:30PM on Monday. While searching the house, they discovered the three bodies.
-- Based on the investigation, they are ruling it as a double homicide-suicide. Evidence leads them to believe that Chris Benoit, likely on Friday, murdered his wife by asphyxiation. Sometime after that (probably Saturday morning), he did the same to his son. Then, sometime late Saturday or Sunday, he committed suicide by hanging.
-- There was no suicide note located within the house.
-- To his knowledge, Benoit was never arrested for domestic violence.
-- There were a lot of prescription medications discovered; they were apparently legal prescriptions. Anabolic steroids were among the substances discovered, but Lt. Pope did not reveal specifics.
-- He text messaged a coworker; the coworker received the message several hours after it was sent. It apparently contained something curious.
-- According to preliminary estimates, he killed himself several hours, but no more than a day, after killing his son.
DA Scott Ballard:
-- His "bizarre" comment refers to the timing of the various deaths. Based on the investigation, some time elapsed between each death.
-- There was a Bible placed beside the bodies of his victims (Nancy and Daniel).
-- There were no signs of a struggle; the wife was bound on her feet and on her wrists. There was some blood under her head.
-- Authorities have no idea about the motive.
-- There was no 911 call.
-- Benoit hanged himself with the cord from a cable-loaded weight machine.
-- There is no evidence of an intruder.

I'm genuinely saddened by all this shit coming out, he would have been a hall of famer for sure and was widely regarded the hardest working and most technical wrestler to step foot in a ring

This seems fucked up to me....
Getting into TNA now but however.....
The cynic in me says these guys just want out and the WWE let them go and hype a murder/death/kill to justify their exit.
My realism streak says they are fucked up on steroids and have lost all of their grasp on reality...playing out the ring fantasies in real life.
If the press stuff is true, I simply cant fathom what would make a bloke kill his own 7 year old kid (I can sort of undertand him snuffing his missus....not his kid)
Very sad either way

Nothing at all points to 'roid rage' everything was done with deliberation, it's the sensationalists creating fantasies.
He bound and gagged his wife before suffocating her, there was then a period of time between then and killing his son, he then left a bible beside each of their bodies before hanging himself. All drugs found in his house were legal and prescribed. He even tested negative for any steriods at his last random test conducted by an independant body through wwe's drug programme.

he no doubt had a problem with rage (if what happened in 2003 is anything to go by) and she probably said she was going again, he flipped, killed her and then thought about what to do next. And he decided to kill the son and himself as a way out.

If you flip and kill someone you don't bind and gag their feet before suffocating them. It has been a deliberate thought out and planned act by a man who clearly has major psychological issues.

its a just a shame that he'll be remembered for the way he died rather than the part he played in the wrestling world

Just because he bound and gagged her doesnt mean it wasnt a spur of the moment act, i.e. she tells him she is leaving, he stops her by tying and gagging her, then is so angry kills her. Thinks about what he has done over night and a way out and takes care of that the next day.
Was obviously one mentally ill individual though.

That's what is saddening me, he would have went down as one of the best ever, a graduate of Stu Harts dungeon that worked his way from top to bottom earning the respect of every single wrestler in the business, all thrown away

Believing the hype is probably the same/as bad as believing the hype/press releases.
Time will tell

An official press release from a police source is not as bad as believing a sensationalist headline

just watched it on SSN, still shocks me hearing it.
Just hearing how he killed them and that he killed his wife and more shockingly his 7 year old son.
Im not massively upto date with wrestling, i used to watch it alot of years ago and my brother became a fan because i watched it, so he still tells me whats going on and from time to time i will watch the ppv's with him when i can be bothered.
But when he told me i was surpised because i didn't really expect something like that to happen.
