whichever you use, z18xe or x18xe1, you'd need to use the x18xe1 downpipe as it has no cat in it, and then use the original 16xe cat

he has bought a x18xe1 engine

right so, will use a dbilas inlet for the x18xe1 (inlet sorted)

had alook at one today, they have a EGR port on number 4, like you said

so will have to use a x18xe1 manifold and then use a x16xe down pipe?
or do both have a CAT in the downpipe???

and ECU - this has the body control module built it right? probley better not to use it

X18XE1 should be a seperate ECU for the engine and other bits, so it should be fine.

I think the exhaust manifold will be a little bit of trial and error, unless you get an X16XE 4 branch (mild steel), cut the flange off, use the flange from the X18XE1 and enlarge the pipe on cyl4.

or if the x16xe on fits - wield up the hole in the head

as you said trial and error

need a few opions on the ECU/loom side - not the best at rewiring!

or would a mappable ECU be better?

You might be lucky and find an X16XE Ecu has all the same wiring, worth a try, and can be remapped for about £500 or so, standalone will cost you twice that.

It would be the better option, yeah.

Speak to Broster on here, he's the man to speak to for decent management for a grand, fitted and mapped.

just fort - all the water hoses should be compatable with each other, so should be able to use most the old hoses

use the x18xe1 manifold and downpipe, and then somehow join the downipie to the rest of the system

had a look again to day

will need a x18xe1 manifold, but might be able too use a x16xe corsa down pipe, they both have the same downpipe gasket apart number so should be compateable (fingers crossed)

any other problems that i might encurre? ie wiring/water hoses............

1. the x16xe and x18xe1 manifolds are completely different stud patterns
2. the x16xe ecu wont work with the x18xe1

but they have the same part number for the down pipe gasket im told??? will double check tomorrow

as for ecu, why can i not use the x16xe ecu and loom, and get a unichip to get it mapped on a rr to suit

after all it COULD be a 1600 bored out to 1800 - same difference really

I was about to say how would you get around the AFM on the X18XE1 engine.

you would take a vacfeed and use a MAP sensor using a x16xe ecu

Use C16XE management and remove the EGR from the X18XE1

as I said on MSN mate, a long, expensive overcomplicated way so solve a non existant problem.

use the x18xe1 ecu and loom.
