what is need to fit a z18xe or x18xe1 into a corsa gsi?

obvisouly an engine

can you use the old loom/ecu (and get the ecu remapped)
does the o/s corsa mount fit onto the engine block? - so you can also fit corsa PAS
can you use the stanard g/box? and what flywheel to use?
are the heads the same (use corsa exhaust?)
and does the inlet manifold ft in okay?

need to know anything else - has anyone else done it?

its a straight forward conversion as far as I can see mate. will need to use the corsa B gearbox and shafts and mounts but everything else fits fine.

use the corsa c ecu and loom, theres some tricky wiring but nothing too bad. then just fiddle with the coolant hoses and job done.

either use an x18xe1 for the cable throttle or retro fit the x18xe fly by wire throttle if using the z18xe.

so for says sake

get a x18xe, that will bolt straight onto a f15cr and use the original mount on drivers side

whats the tricky wiring?

and would it be easyer to junk all inlet and bang on a set of tb's?

fitting tb's to the x18xe1 / z18xe isnt easy due to the waterjacket setup at the back of the head. I spoke to jenvey about developing a mnifold but the cost was far too high. at present nobody makes one.

decent management would be able to control the FBW throttle, you wouldn't need anything changing.

x18xe1 and z18xe are small block

the later vaux ecu's are a bit more difficult to wire up and get working than the x16xe/x14xe ones. they use an all in 1 dash and ecu loom.

and why would you bother with the X18XE when the Z is a better engine

Get some different management and you could even convert the fly by wire throttle to cable...

you wouldn't, you'd use an X18XE1, which has cable throttle and none of the stupid wiring issues you get with the Z18XE.

Also, the Z18XE isn't a better engine than the X18XE1, if anything it's not as good, as it has stricter emissions controls, and a stupid manifold on it.

If you've got EPC you can look at the gaskets and see.

IIRC, the Z18XE has a slightly different setup, with a wider pipe on cyl 4 on the exhaust side, and some other things, not sure about the X18XE1 though.

you'd have to use the normal one, or adapt an X16XE one in some way.
