Thats true, some people were buying at the top of what they can afford. If interest rates do rise, a lot of people will be buggered and have to sell up. Can't see it happening but is a scary thought for some.

The lesson is "don't over stretch yourself" then, if you're living on a string and have nothing left to play with you're asking for trouble anyway

My sentiments exactly, but it's amazing how many people have big loans/mortgages/credit card bills etc. Time bomb waiting to happen

Try and save up a few grand deposit. Go for interest only mortgage.

I was originally looking at a £95k house with £5k deposit to put down. Interest only mortgage worked out at just under £400 a month (similar to rent anywhere else). If I would've bought that, I would've been able to sell it now for £120k

Mortgage peeps - How much are you paying per month, how much is your mortgage for ?

Cheers guys

1. depending on where u live id say £500 a months, and its unlikely you are allowed animals

2.Mortgage, again depends on the value of the house, my house is worth 70k and pay around £400 a month repayment

Greg if u can get a house for 90k you'll be looking @ 500 ish a month depending on the mortgage u go for...

depends where u live, i live in wales so its cheap here but my house, in swindon would probably be about 120 - 130k...

We'd ideally liek to get a mortgage though so we can get a foot on the ladder u know

Renting is definately a good thing when living with a partner for the first time.

I'd strongly advise against getting a mortgage straight away with your missus no matter how "great" you think she is

Ally pics coming at the weekend I promise

Greg, I know what you mean mate. Just acquired a 2 bedroom property (moderate size) for £157k. I pay £880 a month on a repayment basis. I agree with Brett though, strategic buying and selling at the right time is the best way to get better, more expensive properties quicker. Just got to be determined and have a little bit of luck that's all.

I'm planning on not doing much to the property i'm in now. It's recently been decorated with nice, neutral colours. I'm gonna redo the garden in the spring and re-install the downstairs toilet. I reckon the house is worth £170k as it is now.

The woman we bought it off had to sell it cheap because she couldn't afford the repayments

My first mortgage payment is on the 7th really looking forward to that

I would try to avoid renting, its just wasting money. Apart from local authority where a RTB scheme is in place.
If your privatly rent y??? Can't grumble though... they keep my roof over my head

that is alot ... over double what mine is

Greg, move to Wales and get a house here

and u dont need to comprimise she will soon realise that if u live together u can do what the fuck you want

EG - Have a TV in living room and bedroom ... i can watch extreme makeover home edition downstairs and Richie can watch American hotrod upstairs...

She will realise that if u live together she doesnt need to control the amount of time u spend watching footie, as your only upstairs...

another solution would be to get sky plus and watch it when you have free time....

I would rent first, i moved in with Richie and we have lived in his bedroom for nearly 20 months so having a house to ourselves is going to feel hugeeeeee!

Have u had a look at whats on the market in ur area atm?
