cheers guys, i thought the difference between the c16 and x16 was minimal..... personally I agree with you guys about small block engines in corsa's and nova's too. Around the forest roads round here they are soooooo much better, around the bends they are great, however the XE does get the advantage on straighter roads but as most of them are bendy

On the Strip its obviously a different thing! and you need to get as much power down in a straight line!

my car is phenominal, untill you have to turn a corner.

id vote for a well tuned c16xe on tb's any day.

a lot of people see lots of power as a good thing. but really, there is no point in having toooooo much power if you cant either drive the car or use it.

i agree for a straight line go for the biggest most powerful engine ever then strap it to the back wheels!

however when it comes to handeling the lighter the car is the better IMO, getting the smallest weight loss can help

still the weight factor though, a c16xe on tb's can make good power and will be more nimble, in a chasis designed to take the weight

muppet, end of the day people se ethat a c20xe with tbs can have 250bhp (as lucky b obtained) then a x16xe can get 200 (as andy h got) then they say well the c20xe has 50bhp more, so its better. im going ot get 9 c20xe engines. ill be faster than any x16xe, but then they go on a track and wonder why a nova is busting round the outside of them with a 1.6 8v on twin 40's.......

some peoples tuning ideas are like horses blinkers. they see one thing, but not the whole picture.

im allowed lots of power as my car has been and always was, built for 1/4 mile racing

Cant think of any of my mates that have had any complaints with the C20XE or LET in a Corsa or Nova handling wise!

I bet a C20XE with throttle bodies would rape a C16XE or X16XE. Someone should get some of these cars together to settle it once and for all!

honestly matt, it wouldnt. on aq straight it would be quicker. but overall on a track the 1600 16v is far better handling

as i said, im not saying the 20xe will be better handling than the 1.6
its my coice as i want the power there without a big budet
if a 1.6 beats me round the bends then thats fine
im doing it for fun. and i dont mind a car that is lively round corners as it requires more skill to keep it pointing the right way
so i see it more of a challenge

Mine c16xe was only 1.1 seconds slower up the 1/4 mile than my c20xe!

Nova 16xe 15.7
Nova 20xe 14.6

I'd prefer awesome handling in trade of 1 second up quarter!

Pic of my old Silky Twins - 2.0 16v on right, 1.6 8v on left

i still believe that with the proper suspension setup the 2.0 would be every bit as good around bends as a 1.6...

for everyday use id much prefare to have the 2.0 gently humming away infront of me rather than the 1.6 screaming like a girl...

I just find it hard to believe that the difference in handling between a 1.6 and a 2.0 is enough for the 2.0 not to be able to more than make up for it on the straights
