I don't think its been covered. Not any formal details on price yet, but I'd imagine it would be pretty much the same price as the 3GS was PAYG - like £480 or something silly.

I'll be happy if its that price, its half what an 24 month contract will cost me.

There is that, but then you do have to get a contract on top if you plan to use the phone to its potential (like net access etc.)

Depends if you spend another 20 quid a month on top for the contract/payg after that or not.

o2's offer for upgrade is utter toss...

So I pay 6*£20 to buy myself out (£120)

Then have to buy the new phone ~ £180 and then sign up to another £35 * 18 months contract? er... yeh and still have SHITE signal.

Get fucked.

Think I'm going to sell my 3gs (they go for around £300 on ebay) - then buy myself out of contract (or just keep paying it till it ends) and go to orange and sign up for a contract.

Jambo can you get any sort of friends and family discount for mates?

Still no tariffs.

Can you upgrade from a normal contract to a business one or do you have to take a new contract out?

Hang on... if I upgrade what happens to my current 3gs? do I still keep it?

... in that case I could sell my 3gs to o2 for £247 or on ebay for £300.

£300 - £120 buy out - £180 for new iphone 4 ... = continue on o2 with iphone 4 for essentially free.

Yes, you keep it.

Why not just buy the phone on PAYG, continue your contract as normal.

EDIT: After the 6 months, drop down to Simplicity for £15-20 a month. If you take a SIM online you can get cashback through QuidCo or TopCashBack, brings it down to £11.67 a month. Cancel whenever (could even go Vodafone or Orange).

Right looking on ebay more now...

Looks like I can get £300-£380 for my current 3gs. I guess I need to sell asap before the market becomes saturated.

Plan is...

Sell my current 3GS ... £300-£380

Use a payg piece of shit for a few weeks.

Sign up to orange, pay £180 for 16g iphone 4 and a £35 / month contract for 18 months.

Then tell o2 to fuck off and hand over £210 notes to buy myself out of that contract.

Jambo, can you u2u me the price that orange will be doing it etc... any discounts etc. I need to know asap.

I don't think i can live without my iphone for 2 weeks either

I think i'm going to buy a PAYG phone aswell, simplicity for iPhone suits me niceley and no nasty 18-24 month contracts to be pissing about with.

A micro sim is just a normal sim with the edge cut off anyway.

er yes - you signed up to a long contract. Why should they let you upgrade for free? What do they get out of it? Think your self lucky there is any offer at all. When the 3GS was released there was no early upgrade offer at all.

I don't get why so many people in contract moan. When you all took out the contract you knew full well a new phone would be out in less than a year yet you still went for a contract. If you don't want to be tied down go for PAYG.
