Scoobynet has the 'Muppet Show', MIG calls it 'Chit Chat'. I've seen it elsewhere as well. Would a forum to talk crap be a good idea? Where I can move threads which are deemed below par and where Steve, Ojc and vibrio can fester wasting electricity?

I duno, from a lazy point of view it would mean changing between forums. I just use General Chat, dont really look on any of the others. Supose would filter out all the crap, but would take more admin to maintain. I guess if your willing to put the effort into it, it could be a good idea.

To be honest - i think this forum would become pretty much redundant and i would expect to see the amout of posts at least halved in here with half the traffic moving to the new forum.

yes but u could sit in the crap forum and talk crap while at the same time have a sensible post in the general chat where u will get sensible answers and noone will hijack it

Ben, I for one would spend as little time as possible in there, so while the point about traffic has some truth in it, I'm certainly not alone?

well if they do then admin can get tougher as they will have no excuse to post crap when there is somewhere to do it....would probably be better for people at work too as they will know any threads they open in the general chat will be work friendly

A few people have asked me for one over the years and I've never liked the idea of dedicating an idea entry in the threads database to just crap. However I'm keen to shake off this notion that its called General Chat so we can pap on about nothing as if the Internet were actually as important as real life

Actually, thinking more about it, I dont think it would get used alot. Like the 'other' forum. Most of the crap would still get caught in the Main general chat forum. Could do a trial for a week and see what happens?

We've got somewhere to move it though Sooty. We can be stricter with moderation without actually deleting things.

I do think its a great idea - there was talk about it a while ago i remember - i just think that everyone enjoys tittle tattle coz theres only so many things you can talk about cars - i would use both even though i use the rest of the forums very rarely.
Start another website that just talk bollocks then you could have two very well used sites I can suggest a few moderators too The only thing is - what would you call the individual chat forums

To be honest, that's not why the site exists. The days of behaviour like this are unfortunately limited.
