Right plugged everything in at home, installed the drivers etc.
But when I got to log in it doe'snt come up with the option to log in on AOL Broadband, just normal AOL dialup services.
It tells me that I should plug this little adapter thing into every telephone line I have at home but I only have 1 spare and two telephone lines, could this be the cause of the problem?

check the dialing properties, right click internet logo, properties, dial up settings n select aol broadband

Go to start > search > files and folders.
Search for global.org and delete all the global.org files found.
Then open the AOL software, and it will configured itself for AOL broadband.

you only need to plug in the adaptor one whichever phone line you are using at the time, but, if all your other phones are still plugged in to the sockets that dont have microfilters, make sure you remove them as they will cause the line not to work.

yes but if he only has one at the moment his only solution is to unplug everything else 
But you also should delete the global.org files so AOL will get rid of its old dialup configurations.

If you have only one filter, plug that into the nearest line to your computer, so that you can connect to broadband.
Then you have to make sure each other phone device is disconnected, as it will be connected to an unifiltered socket and will cause problems.

So I can only have 1 telephone line plugged in? And thats the one the computer is plugged into!
What about when my mum and dad get back from holiday and go to use the phone only to find it disconnected?

Ojc, for every socket that you want a phone plugged into, you need a microfilter there. It seperates the frequencies we can hear from the frequencies we cant hear, so the internet service uses the frequencies we cant hear to send and recieve data.
Plug the line into an unfiltered socket, and it will use all the frequencies, therefore interfering with the service.
Easiest thing to do, is install a microfilter at your master box, and plug the slave phone lines that have only phones connected to them, therefore you wont need to have a microfilter at every end.
Make sure the line that goes to your PC is unfiltered at your master box though, as a microfilter will need to be installed the other end for your adsl modem to connect to.

Microfilters
What does a splitter/micro-filter do?
These are small adapters which fits between the phone socket and the ADSL modem or router. A Microfilter has two sockets, one for the ADSL modem/router, and the other for a normal phone/fax/answering machine/set top box. It's purpose is to filter out the ADSL signal from the normal phone signal, allowing you to use both on the same line.
What devices need to be filtered ?
All phone devices need to be filtered when ADSL is used on your line,
including:
Normal handsets
Cordless handset base stations
Fax machines
Answering machines
Set top boxes.
This means that you generally need to have a Microfilter on every telephone socket that is being used with the same line as the ADSL. Alternatively, you can install a Microfilter on the Master phone socket, and run all your phone extension sockets off this Microfilter, in which case you'll only need just one extra Microfilter, for the socket used by your ADSL modem/router.
If you are not sure about how to connect this second option together, then it is safer if you just get a separate Microfilter for each telephone socket in use.
