According to site logs over 60% of people are using XP... next most popular is Windows 98, then Windows 2000

Windows 2000 is Windows 2000 Professional surprising, or NT 5.0.
If i meant ME i would have said "ME"
Never go for the home products -- they suck. My install here of XP is stable as anything for any doubters... Windows 2000 has a few less goodies and probably runs a notch faster on an equivalent machine..

Computers are only as bad as the people who install and configure them...
I have a Win2k server here on a well old P166 as my firewall which hasn't been touched in 3 months...

Currently using at home:
Machine #1: Win98SE & Win2k Pro (dual boot)
Machine #2: Win2k Pro
Machine #3: being built, but getting RedHat (I think) installed on it
I'd say if you're going to be networking and using normal applications, get Win2k Pro. If you're going to be using it just as a games machine, get Win98SE. If you're going to be doing a mixture of both, dual-boot the machine with both 98SE and 2k Pro on.
Don't use ME, I've heard nothing but bad reports from everybody who's used it!
And I've had bad experiences with XP Pro, but that might have just been my machine - 7 fresh installs (format and clean install) needed in 4 days.
