Relating to your question, yes a few breathing mods, simple boost/fuelling upgrade will take the Z20LET easily to 240bhp.

Mines been spot on so far, paid £6k for mine after seeing a couple at £5k+ that where in bad condition.
Even though mines lowered -40mm it still feels comfortable to drive and havent had any problems with speed bumps etc.
Mines only standard at the minute engine wise but pulls well, handling is a let down as it does feel abit of a barge at times but that might be something that could be sorted with decent suspension and a whiteline rear arb.
Tuning wise I got an idea of whats needed to be done to reach more power on regals website and there phase kits:
http://www.regal-shop.co.uk/acatalog/Phase_Kits.html
Turbo's are known to go at around 50k, couple of people on astra owners network who have had there standard turbo's last longer, the turbo off the vxr is a common replacement.

Full exhaust including sports cat, vxr turbo, FMIC, remap should see a healthy 260ish bhp. vxr injectors and afm with suitable remap would be about 280-300 iirc. Overall very tunable cars with loads of off the shelf performance parts available. I have one for sale in the classified

My mates one is rapid, can't remember what he's done to it though but i'd get an LSD before you go for big power otherwise you'll be pissing about trying to get it down in corners/wet weather. Made a massive difference to his.

brilliant cars just let down by the lack of feel and driver involvement. Interior may not be the prettiest but its well built and functional and quiet too.
Tuning very easy and the Zlet is a cracking engine with smooth power delivery
thirsty tho!

Can I ask why you want to go from a well spec'd FWD turbo car to a standard FWD turbo car? You'll only miss the power and spend the same again to get it to the spec of the Ibiza.

TBH i think a stock GSI is abit lame, nice drive, but not particually fast imo. Pull alot better once mapped though. I was thrashing a stock one (well bar exhaust and coilovers last weekend) and i didnt find it particually thrilling. Speed wise you will think its a big down turn from the ibiza, but i bet most things will
But it you want a smooth, comfortable ride, i cant fault them.

My mates GSI does same mpg as my 318 bmw. He gets 30mpg knocking about as he drives it steady (doesnt touch a motorway either), its all in and around nottingham.
Other mate with his mapped one, thrashes it everywhere, often averages 18 mpg

ive no idea what mpg mine got but around town i got 240miles to a tank. Which considering my M3 is near that id say it was pretty lame
mine was tuned though but not massively circa 240bhp

What would it be like to get to near 270ish
Courtney sport pre cat pipe,
Courtney sport sports cat,
VXR turbo,
induction kit, filter,
Full 2.5 system,
Front mount intercooler
Remap either generic or custom should see 270 ish with over 300 torque.
to get more you need
VXR Injectors
VXR AFM
Full 3" Stainless
20XEV inlet cam
then obviously map tweaked again. Hope that helps

Not stupidly but when the car is out its out. They just drink Vpower as if its going out of fashion, especially when mapped.
