How my saturday went, driving for first drive after full rebuild

was tappy, but fort just needed to bed cams/tappets in.......

that tapping noise wasnt a noisy cam/tappets, although i was right topend

very hard to diagnoise on a new engine, is it tappets? is it cams?

no it was valve to piston contact noise!
after a few miles it decided to drop a head off a valve

can be put down to either.
no enough clearance on pockected pistons (yes i should of checked it properly, by it turned over by hand fine)
pockets in wrong place (see pic)

too big cams

soo £700ish + alot of time wasted waiting for people =

heads 100% mullered

piston, (due to damage) top ring sticking, and hard to move on guingen pin

top shells worn due to valves falsing back down

bore has a mark in it, going to get a honing tool on it, see it can be removed

Surely it must be a duff piston for it do it on just 1 cylinder? Or rod/crank slightly out, but this seems unlikely. Very harsh though and not much you could of done to stop that happening.
