Monday night on my journey home I drove around a bend and lost control of my car, I believe after slipping on ice.

You see below the result, as the rear end of the car loss grip it swung round and I headed across the road and into the bank – except the bank was a ditch as the nose fell in the back of the car came over the top.
I landed suspended from my seat belt upside down

I am still to hear back from the insurance on the outcome

I warn you all when travelling to take your time and slow down. I know the road well and the bend, I would not consider myself a reckless driver, although agree I am “spirited”. I know I wasn’t fast at this point but misjudged the conditions, 10mph slower would have avoided the situation– safe driving all

in short : SLOW THE FUCK DOWN
i was lucky, dan_c4rsa (his story) was extremely lucky....dont run the risk of losing your pride and joy and the high insurance premiums

Is that your second MG that has now been in an accident?

Roads are very hard to judge at the moment partuclarly on my commute in from the coast. The conditions in the city can be totally different.

In short anything performance wise will be challenging to drive in this weather so extra caution will be required. Low profile tyres really dont help in icy conditions

Gutted mate, even more so being your second acciden in a short space of time.

I'm not even going out in the car other than to go to work at the moment, it's really not worth it.

Ditto to what OJC said, using the car for work and over to the GF's.

No point in little fun drives at the moment, this weather shits me up

Struth!

Sorry to hear about your accident, at least you're still alive though.

Reminds me of when I was driving in the Calibra last year, late at night near Kidderminster, was driving on an unlit road at night and there was a sharp bend ahead. Random young bloke was standing in the middle of my side of the road crying and obviously in shock, he came from the other direction and rolled his Corsa. He was lucky as his car was mainly on the road (there was a ditch there too).

We (my girlfriend was in the car with me at the time) presumed that he took the corner too quickly.

The crying/shouting/screaming in shock comes as standard when writing off a car tbh

Slowing down is all well and good, but smooth and fluid acceleration/braking and steering is also reccomended!
