Hi. I need a new gasket for my mantzel style inlet manifold to my throttle body. I ordered one from autovaux but it wsn't the one i wanted. It's sort of square with a big hole (inlet) nd it also has a bit to go round the idle control valve. If that makes sense. Does anyone know where i can get one. Maybe vaux have a part number??? Cheers Phil

So do i mate. She goes lot better than before but she has now got some autosprint cams. I see your car on the roller in total vaux. Not bad for a 1.4. I may get mine in with the next migweb one. I'll be in the bottom but hopefully i'll get in the vaux hall of fame charts for the under 1800 na class.

I'll have to try vauxhall when i get back. I planning on getting throttle bods eventually but the price tag puts me off.The engine stands me in around £3000 anyway. You've got dblias one's if i remember correctly?

What power are you aiming for out of interest?

Gods knows. I'd like 185 with throttle bodies. It's all about the management really. I'm still running standard and i reckon she's about 150. Powerband is between 4000 to 7000 but she'll rev higher when re-mpped. The flywheel is nuts. It's the lightest one i could get from sbd so she revs very quickly. So much so that in first gear it's almost impossible to see the rev counter needle. If she isn't spinning. lol.

it must be chipped then to rev to 7krpm, wild cam too? got to be 160bhp+
and how light, mines 5 or 5.4kg - want lighter tho!

Nah just 1.6 management. Used to run 1.4 which was about 6700 but plugged in 1.6 nd got 7000. Cams are 256 i think. Could be more. She does tickover a little lumpy. Bit like a scooby. lol. Want nology hot wires and plugs and then re-map next.
Flywheel i think is 4.5 kg mybe even 4 kg. It is made for a caterham with x16xe meaning it can be lighter because of weight of the car.

I'll be honest, I'd be surprised if you've got more than 150bhp with those cams and that rev limit, but still, decent power

Sorry meant 265 not 256. I agree i doubt she's more than 150 but with throttle bodies 185 should be easy. I need to get limiter moved up for definate. It pisses over my mates valver except top end becuse i'm using f13cr gearbox.
Was thinking of cutting up my inlet manifold like the one pictured above and adapting it to use a throttle body at either end. Would be cool having two induction kits.

She's also had a lot of headwork. She's got a c16xe head which hs been port polished, gas flowed, matched ports, multi angled valve seats, ports altered to remove all bad design.

I don't think you'd get 185bhp with those cams and TBs (sorry, sounds like I'm slagging the engine off, I'm not )
For 185bhp you'd want 288s or similar really
I personally wouldn't bother messing about with a dual TB setup, I'd just save up for a proper TBs setup.

Yeah i'm in two minds. I know i would have to get bigger cams but they come with the sbd 185 kit. But very pricey. Might play with twin trottle bodies as a laugh as i got few spares lying around.
Anyone had any good results with the dblias ones? Just got a mate who's got some not fitted and a mate with some jenvey tb's not fitted.

Jamsport mapped one the other day, Dbilas bodies and Gotech MFI Pro management, made 128bhp, it was an X14XE.
If you do go for TBs, don't buy a kit from SBD, spec your own, choose your cam profile, and buy all the bits individually, iy'll be cheaper.

dont see why not, power is MADE in the cyclinder head, and you've had a lot of work done! and the cams arn't that bad
get the this! \/ and get a 30degree inlet manifold - speak to dave a about them

Well most the work ws done by rob from specialised engine services. All the bits i couldn't do myself anyway. He's a top bloke and he's built the uk's quickest starlet turbo producing well over 300 bhp which is loads considering they're only a 1.3 3 cylinder engine. Gonna get him to do another cylinder head but go all out on it. He makes one off cams etc and i'll get him to make an custom inlet manifold to fit big throttle bodies.

Warren, broster had A LOT of headwork, and with 288s and about 20 hours of mapping (if not more) made 190bhp.
But still, it'll be a good strong engine anyway

She'll be even stronger when she gets cosworth forged pistons, steel rods, polished crank etc. etc. Cheers.
