Motorcycle king Valentino Rossi has thrown down a three-way racing challenge to Formula 1 world champion Fernando Alonso.
The Yamaha star has called upon Alonso to match his words with actions after the Spaniard dismissed the Italian's recent speed in pre-season F1 testing at Valencia.
Rossi has proposed that the two champions take part in a face-off using bikes, F1 cars and rally cars, after Alonso commented that he could be competitive in Moto GP with enough practise.
"I read that if Alonso is able to make some practise then he can put a MotoGP bike on the podium with me," Rossi told Motor Cycle News.
"Well, I think we should drive a Formula One car, a World Rally car and a MotoGP bike, add the times together and then we will see who is the fastest."

MMM i think that Rossi will walk that!
The bike - is obviously the hardest of all 3 and i cant see alonso getting within 5 seconds of Rossi.
F1 car - rossie wasnt far off the pace in testing this year, with more practice he should be better
Rallying- I think they would both be about the same, although rossi has had a go before and alonso hasnt. Rossi wasnt fast but adjusted to the idea of rallying quite fast. wheres alonso only know one way to race and that the circuit syle.
So Rossie should take honours i would feel as alonso wont be anywhere near when it comes to the bike
They need Loeb in on that as well as i fell he would show them both up.
He would be as fast as rossi in the f1, and as slow and alonso on the bike but when it comes to rallying he will easily be over 10 seconds ahead over a stage!
Lets hope that ITV broadcast it as well

No hes a had a go in a rally car and was off the pace but not that far off.
He has a mentality which amazes me, if you look at loeb etc they are so calm and collected same with rossi which makes them so fast.
The ones that come round squeeling tyres, sideways, always right on the edge wont be fast as there at there limit.
Rossi, Loeb always have that little bit extra in reserve incase they need it.
Alonso however yes is a great driver, but hes not the world champion standards the other 2 are. I hope they beat him by about 10 minutes over the 3 disciplines

he will of already signed for McLaren by then (has already hasnt he?) so wont be allowed. Put it this way if I was paying someone 20mil+ a year I wouldnt let him anywhere near a race track on a bike!

its slightly safer to drive an F1 car where if you crash your inside the safety zone thingy, than if your not used to riding a bike and crash one of them!

last time I checked I liked Arsenal...its Everton and Chelsea I dont And never thought Liverpool were champions of the world, far from it. So STFU
Jamie...im not saying dont talk about it, Im just saying there is very little chance of it actually happening considering he wont be allowed to, regardless of it he wants to or not.
