iirc there is a part on the v5 where you change the details and yes insurance will be more on a conversion

change it on the v5 document, is a part for engine no. (get it off new engine - runs down the side of block next to gearbox at the dipstick)
also bit to change engine capacity.

and yes insurance is considerably more!

This is the best option, try online for discounts etc... allot of popular nsurance companys don't insure modded cars. But there are loads of others that do

Try Adrian flux for your prem discount as well

I'm about halfway through a policy with HIC so dont want to have to switch insurance companies as I'll lose about 5 months of my 5th years no claims bonus. Prob could get insured if I went elsewhere but like I say would lose me a years NCB effectively

When my engine conversion was done I filled in the section on the V5, sent a copy of the V5 which the engine had come from (to prove the engine number etc) together with an engineers report.

As for insurance- will be more obviously (tax will be as well depending on what engine you have now), but find a specialist- I'm with Greenlight but they only insure people over 21. Also check the small print or ask if the insurance company do "like for like" replacement on your mods- cos if you're involved in an accident then they have the ability to return your car (engine included) back to standard or write it off if it's deemed to expensive to repair.

i ment most people wont be able to tell u how to go about putting it on paper ie insurance, because most people will only be insuring their car as if it would still hav the origional engine !!!!!!

Are you saying most people with engine conversions are fraudsters and are driving around uninsured due to not declaring thier mods?
