right, im in a situation.
Im currently at University, got the 1.0 12V corsa b at the moment and its great for reliabliity but it just doesnt pull much(i travel on the motorway quite abit).
So i need a car that is fast, reliable and looks nice.
So far, im cosidering the following:
1: get a rear dammaged corsa sport and transfer items over (engine, brakes etc)
2: sell my current corsa and buy a new one
3: do fook all and just live with it until i get a job after uni
Any ideas? i really want a faster car now. Its just getting on my nerves, but i love my corsa so thats why an engine transplant would be a good idea.

from 1.0 12v to another. Yeah i know what you mean, i just cant take it anymore, it has just killed me today to be a passenger in my bros Clio 1.8 16V.
Also i have quite abit of trouble on the motorways being probably the slowest, everyone likes to go in the fast lane once in a while well i bloody cant cause it just dont go anywhere.
My favourite plan at the moment is to get the 1.6 engine transplant.

insurance will be 'gay' on a 1.6 16v corsa compared to what you are paying now.....
90% of people start with a small engined car, and u say ur @ uni? most people i know at uni dont even have a car!!!
but if your going to go2 all the hassle of taking your engine out and putting a new one in why not put a 2.0 16v in??

2.0 doesnt weigh much more than the 1.6

I want to go 1.6 16V because, its lower on insurance than what a 2.0 would be.
Also, the difference between a 1.6 16v conversion wont be much (around 300-400 difference).
Im willing to pay that much difference in my premium.
I travel home alot to work to get the extra beer tokens thats why i have a car at uni (also pays for the car).
Also there isnt that much hassel as i wont be doing it. I know somebody who has done alot of 1.6 16v conversions.
Also from what i heard, 2.0 conversions are the most reliable, whereas a 1.6 should be fine obviously there willl be a few teething problems at the start but i can handle that.
ALSO, i will be going to my year in industry in a years time so if i get the conversion done soon (about 6 months time) then it wont be so bad as i will need a decent car to get from work and back

I will be 20(in feb) and have 1 years no claims also driving for 3 years.
And i will do the usual trick of adding my parents on to lower it down a little.
So the insurance wont be that bad.

Unless you've done extensive work to your current corsa there is no point in doing a conversion.
Just buy a better car.
I had a 199bhp Nova at the start of my placement, and a 300bhp Calibra turbo at the end of it.

haha, i think ive been turned to the dark side. Well ive been turned to a faster side. lol.
I like the look of the old stylee clios and a 1.8 is fast and not that bad on my insurance(i checked)
But there is one thing i dont like and that is that i have to have an iron foot for the clutch.

may aswel sell ur car and buy a 1.4 16v gls or something cheap on insurance and quite nippy most bits can be transferred easily anyway like wheels and that if ur corsa is modded

drop the xe in the corsa, i dont know many ppl that do tell the insurance, but if its logged and registered with a engineers report, its only a percentage increase like an engine mod to your 1.0 so ill think u find it doesnt cost a hell of a lot more...

if i did that then i would only put a 1.6 16v in (105 bhp)
but if i buy a clio 1.8 16V (130bhp)its faster and the insurance i suppisingly low

stick a x14xe in, you'll get one cheaper than a 1.6 and insurance will be a couple of £££ less which is what you want at uni.
or a 1.2 16v, quite nippy and a lot better economy than the 1.4 (like 20-30 miles more on £10)
i got near 300 miles to £30 other day which is a record (drove like my gran would be proud of)

sell get a civic 1.4i or 1.5 vtec, soooo much smoother to drive maybe not as fast as a 1.6 16v but on the motorway ud notice a nice car to drive. its quiet well bult and very reliable
