Ill soon have a laptop and was wondering if i get a USB cable A-A so it connects laptop to desktop pc, can i send stuff from desktop to laptop via USB?

yeah you can, windows has the software built in to do it.

Yeah you can do it.

If both computers have a network connection just use a crossover cable.

it will need to be a crossover cable to work between the two, standard network cable wont work...

you can't directly connect 2 computers with a USB cable, you need a special cable which has an adaptor unit built in to do it. Can't remember how much they cost, but like the others say your best using a proper network card & a crossover cable

Proper network with crossover cable also requires a network card in each machine.

Some USB wires offer the capability of moving files but thats about all you've got - no proper sharing, you would find it very difficult if not impossible to share an internet connection etc.
