Will changing the standard air filter to a performance one make a noticeable difference?

Green + K&N are cotton
PiperX is foam

no difference in performance or sound!

id just go for the cheapest! which is the PVD panel, which is made by PiperX

If you just replace the panel mate you wont notice that much difference as a new filter without the drilled airbox is pointless - as your not getting enough air into it for it to perform

I've drilled my airbox but it's not making it much louder. I've got a lot of holes on the underside furthest from the engine and basically didn't drill any on the engine side incase i get hot air going up the airbox. Should I just drill the underside of the airbox to buggery for more noise or would this bugger up performance??

first i drilled my air box with 12x 1/2cm holes on the box and also cut away the plastic lip that is at the front of the air box.

i then added a panel filter (PVD foam) and refitted the box after re-seting ECU.

My next step was to fill the car will shell optimax ( WHY NOT? )

RESULTS:-
Idle seems smoother and power lasts longer. The car keeps pulling for another 500-600 rpm before a gear change is needed!!!

Not bad for £30!!

I put a PVD filter panel in and fitted a cold air feed form the front grill and sealed it inside the standard air box.

Should i have drilled the air box aswell who knows ?

The noise was no different but it got rid off the flat spot and pulls slightly quicker.

I've also go the standard back box on the exhaust, maybe thats why it doesn't sound any different ?

if anyones got any suggestions give me a shout.

Lol, drilling the airbox is only for the noise novelty. Cold air feeds make the most difference.
