Well I have only logged a run once but I would imagine the record function would be beneficial if you were experiencing problems. Rather than try and watch the gauge, you can record the turbo activity and watch it back after, see what its doing etc.

You're right, they're expensive. It's swings and roundabouts really but from my experience, they're well worth the extra pennies.
