My engine needs a clean as theres a fair bit of oil and crap all over it.

Bought some of this Gunk stuff in a spray can, it instructs you to use a strong jet of water to get rid of it all after its done its stuff.

I'm really not wanting to get a hosepipe in my engine. Tried to cover up the electrics but water is bound to get all over them.

What have all you lot done?

Shall I just spray the Gunk and hope for the best?

i jet sprayed the engine of my old mk2 golf. couldn't start it afterwards cos all the electrics were soaked.
couldn't you just get rid of the gunk with a wet sponge or something, would obviously take longer but dunno if you'd get the same results.

just remove the battery, cover the alternator, the dizzy cap and any exposed wiring.

then spray gunk all over the engine bay then jet wash off.

be carefull when removing the covers cos water may leak onto the electrical parts.

Where i live i got some 151 engine car pride for £1 and use a hot jet wash for £2 works a treat. The secret is keep the engine running and every so often stop for a few moments and let the engine sort it self out mine works all the time i do it 4-5 times a year Lee
