For the novices among us whats the difference between an X16 and a C16?

and does a 164TB kit give you an extra 164 BHP or something? How much BHP does it provide?

How much BHP is a 1.6 16v and how much is a 2.016v?

Cheers!

C16XE is the earlier GSi engine with 109bhp. Comes without EGR Valve, or air circulation pump (bit that goes from the downpipe, accross the front of the engine and into the black pump). Just a few changes, but for minor modding (like aftermarket inlet manifolds etc) its the better engine to tune.

When you get to TB region, the X16 and C16 lumps are about the same.

The 164 kit is said to get 164bhp, but every engine reacts differently to different engine mods. Cna see 150bhp, can see 170bhp! Jsut depends on luck really.

i.e Vauxgirl on here had a 1.6 16v on the 164 kit. Had no end of problems with it after that. Sold it to a nova guy and a few months later on a track day he blew it.

Lisa now has a 2.0litre!

C16XE 109bhp - 0-60 = 8.9 = 121mph
X16XE 106bhp - 0-60 = 9.5 = 119mph
X16XEL 100bhp - ? (the dodgy lump steve106gti sold me )

So you can buy a C16 from Vauxhall - does it come boxed in bubblewrap?

Is 1.5k sound about right?

Oh, the C16 has a plastic inlett manifold where-as the X16 (and X14XE) have metal inlet manifolds.

Early GSi's sound superb with K+N's. Much deeper than the later metal manifold models.

2.0litre 16v came with 150 and 156bhp, depending whether the car came with a CAT or not.
Also teh pathetic 136bhp 2.0litre 16v Ecotec!
