OK, so I have had some problems recently with my Corsa running an x18xe1 lump.

It was idling rough, and sometimes stalling when approaching junctions and coming to a stop. I carried out the yellow wire mod which fixed the issue, but it starting to return (Slightly different idle, more erratic so maybe not related to YWM)

I have since replaced the Lambda, Cam and Crank sensors. I also started the engine, and when I unplugged the MAF the idling became better. I then replaced the MAF, but the car still ran like shit. Next up is coil pack, but I was wondering if anyone has had similar problems, and how you solved it? If the coil pack doesn’t solve the issue I haven’t got a clue what else it could be...

Replace the MAF with a KNOWN working one as a test.

Mine had all these symptoms - did the wiring mod and it seemed to improve it, but didn't. Plugged in another MAF and it was worse, then refitted one that was in beforehand and it worked the same as if the guffed one was unplugged - fitted a brand new GM one, and everything went away straight off and it been fine since

you changed the egr valve ??
common fault on a x18xe1 see if it had a hole in it turn the engine on and spray carb cleaner on it if revs change you know it is sucking air in some where

also is your fuel pressure spot on ???

I replaced the MAF with a brand new Siemens VDO item, and it did improve things slightly so I'm not sure its that. Don't fancy spending another £117 for a GM MAF incase it has no affect. Thing is, it seems to idle fine when the automatic choke kicks in, but them idles lumpy, and misses. Sounds completely different too. Going to check the Coilpack tonight.

I blanked the EGR off on Monday which helped things a little, was told it was done so didnt check, but turns out it wasn't.

Clean throttle body mate there is a breather. Hose that goes to the rocker cover size of a pin head gets clogged causes all sorts of problems

Yeah I cleaned the Throttle Body too

Havn't cleaned the breathers so I'll try that.

My gut feeling still says coilpack, but then again I was convinced it was MAF

Only others could be the cts or the carbon canister not plumbed in properly

Incase anyone was wondering, took the inlet off to find a 3"x1" hole on the side by the alternator. Guess that explains it Fitted a new inlet, cleaned the TB, blanked the EGR and fitted my John Ashley 4-1 and it runs better than ever, very happy

Not a huge difference, but feels and drives so much better. It feels a little pokier, but that could be down to the fact that the hole in the inlet was causing it to run rough. Well worth cleaning the TB out as I think that has helped a lot.

No, but my sump plug is about 2" off the floor so the manifold is the least of my worries
