I was in a taxi last night which had SAT NAV in it. It looked like a pretty cheap one and was dash mounted.
Anyone know where there is a site with some on so i can have a look at them?

if you got alot of money, alpine sat nav system with a nice flip out screen would be the way to go, getting cheaper you go for a laptop with a GPS card in it, then a bit of downloaded software (autoroute) which can interface with the GPS card. Even cheaper would be a £500 unit from compaq, its like the ipaq but does only sat nav, check compaq's website or pc world have em.

Most of the taxis around here have it, when I call a private hire now they also one-bell the house phone when it enters the end of the road. They arrive quicker to, as it picks the one thats closest. Nifty stuff.

We have it in our work vans, each of our systems has a RRP of around £1600

the alpine one is horrible, go pioneer. Just my opinion.

This one is a little unit that is on the dash, a bit like a radar detector with a mini screen.
