dispite the countless threads on wheel offset i still have a prob...

i know all u peeps say to go for an offset 45-49 but when i went shopping for 17's for my corsa c they insisted that i go for a 40 offset or the wheel will foul.

Will i run into probs with this offset considering a 40mm drop will soon follow? btw my car is a 1.8sri which is apparently already lower than normal c's.

this is the wheel in question. AMG Matrix 17x7:

Advice from existing 17" owners appreciated

My question is, when changing our wheels' offset what's the effect on our suspension? Is this less important than rub?

Rieger are reputable, but they're also German! In the continent people want low offsets and are prepared to hack arches apart.

There are so many ET45-49 wheels now, is there any need to risk potential problems and go lower?

Also, as well as the risk of scrubbage, a lower offset does seriously affect the handling.

MY 16" Corsa C Sri wheels (on my Sxi) are ET40, and they sit under the arch, just, you might be ok, but i'd get ET45 - ET49 just to be safe
