is the camshaft end cap got sealent blocking the oil way

is there was no oil pressure to the cam it would have score marks and prob seize - so are you sure

next wiring

EGR,
Coolant temp sensor
Map sensor
TPS

all run the same 5v feed from them ECU which goes through the fuel injector loom (check connection there)

Coil pack
Camsensor
EGR valve

All run the 12v igntion feed to the coil pack then through the injector loom,

Air temp sensor
MAP sensor
Knock sensor

All share same earth, and knock sensor goes through the inkector loom

thats a big clue, id solve this no problem

but sitting on the internet i cant, i can advise

Check the big blue plug my the injectors as alot runs through there, could be bad connection

i would do wiring checks, but most likey you have a wiring fault or more likely a ECU fault

Thanks a lot Warren. I'll check all the bits youve mentioned tomorrow and see what happens. Looks like a new injector loom could be needed though.

On the inlet cam there is oil but not enough. I ran it with the rocker cover off and the little pin holes that cause the oil to fire out, the one on the exhaust side fired up into the bonnet and the one on the inlet side just dribbled out. Philip2 has had the head in bits and it was fine - no blockages etc. Theres no marks on the cam or lifters its just noisy.

believe it or not there is a reason vx charge £80+ an hour

and why i charge £30 lol

i wont say change it, just check

i would personaly check all the earth mentioned with a test lamp

check the feed out of the ecu and at each point

your lucky you have all thoes codes, its a big clue to the problem! none of thoes sensors needed to be replaced - its clearly a ecu/wiring fault

Thanks a lot Warren its greatly appreciated Beer tokens are yours!

In fairness that was the only bit of the loom i havent changed so it might be worth changing it anyway. It cant hurt and it'll only be a couple of quid from the scrapyard.

I'll check all the earths again and give them all a clean. There is one earth im not quite sure about though. It comes from the loom of the left hand side of the bay, theres 2 of them and i dont know whether to bolt them to the inlet or to the alternator. Ive tried both and it doesnt seem to make much difference.

The help is greatly appreciated though mate

Well after a long day today its done nothing.

Changed the loom, injector loom, ecu, chip, transponder and knock sensor.

It ran perfect for 10mins and worked near enough perfectly right up until the point i turned a corner and it started running on 2 cylinders. Its now stuck running on 2 cylinders

Theres a spark from the HT leads and the plugs are good but i'll check them again tomorrow.

Its giving me fault codes but its giving codes like 0412
The injector loom is on the right way round. Absolutely nothings changed since it ran perfectly.

if only running on 2 cylinders could actualy have a coil pack fault as they run the wasted spark system

(one coil 2 cylinders)

Its definately not a spark issue though as all 4 cylinders have a spark so it must be fuel.
It doesnt matter anyway now. Ive given up on that engine and bought another. I'll have a fiddle with it when its out to see if i can find the problem but its not that bad now ive sorted another one.

Changed the filter this morning and it made no difference. I did check the electrical input from the pump and its fine and it does pump fuel to the rail fine.

Bought a 2.0 16v

Its a shame to get rid of the 1.6 but if i cant find the problem with it once its out then theres not a lot else i can do with it other than strip it and sell it

I am devastated i couldnt make it work as it was brilliant yesterday when it worked. The only thing is i still have the lack of oil to the cam to sort along with the new fault codes and the fact its now on 2 cylinders. Its like i fix one problem and another one comes along.
