Why have you chosen those 2 HTCs? Get the Desire, or if thats too much £££ get the Wildfire which is similar (and better than the Smart) but cheaper, eg:

Desire deals are few and far between at the mo, theres hardly any stock anywhere

I chose those 2 HTC's because they are offered by O2 on contracts where I don't have to put any money upfront.
