Isn't that one of Dave's "run abouts" these days? He owns the near on concourse Lotus Carlton and a few Fords iirc. Met him a couple of times at Surrey RSOC meets when I've been with my mate.

If they did fit a redtop to the B's as standard then they most likely would have had to up the engine range in other models, such as the astra gsi mk3 and cavalier gsi.
That red corsa is uber clean

Ojc, Daimo and jr cheers for the info lads.
I'd say they should have done it as a technical excercise, but I can imagine that a good few would have seen the bottom of ditches or ended up in fields on their roofs. That red one on the cav fans is brilliant.

Like is been said already, would have been to heavy up front and would have taken Vauxhall to much time and money to get it right from the factory. All the smallblock 16v engines used in the Corsa b are good engines and have loads of potential with the right work carried out.

does this mean a corsa with cams and inlet and exhaust and manifold, should be on a par with a half decent 106gti/saxovts.
as the corsa has a slight bit more power but also a little more weight

Ignore Barnes he has nothing better to do.
Cams, inlet, decent exhaust system, manifold, raised limiter basically same spec as Lee Mannings with the inlet matched to the head as well.
0-60 6.39 seconds, 130mph all recorded on Datatron.
Bit of weight reduction goes a long way as well.

1.8, less bhp, less torque, yet mysteriously faster

Don't think the 1.8 was about when the B came out in 1993.
Maybe for the facelift, but then vauxhall were never going to chuck more money at an already huge profit earner.
