After what happened with my Green Corsa I dont want to runt he risk of my new car being damaged or broken into.
So im after a decent alarm and its for a MK4 Astra Gsi.
Ive heard of the usual brands such as Toad and Clifford, but are these the best thing for my money?
I'd be happy to spend around £500 maybe more with fitting included.
Not too sure on what I want the alarm to do, but total closure, shock sensor, interior sensors and possible a exterior proximity sensor would be what Im after.
Any suggestions?
Cheers

Toad Ai606. Everytime this questions asked, nearly everyone says the same thing. Brilliant alarm, can't fault it.

Toad AI606.
Comes with interior sensors and shock sensor as standard, total closure and exterior proximity can be added on fairly cheaply.
£220 fitted on ebay too Can't fault mine

had an ai606 on my rs turbo..
no false alarms, always worked on the bottom...
got a clifford on the corsa i have now, its hideous in comparison...
remember though, an alarm is only as good as the person who installs it..

toad ai606
cheap and works exactly the same as more expensive brands.
mine was very sensitive on the highest setting mind and the rain would set the alarm off, so half way is the best compromise.

Im a big Autowatch fan.
Merc use them as a standard alarm iirc.
i've had mine for 8 years, without a single problem, and my mate who fitted it highly recommends them.

toad ai606, although make sure its fitted by a credited installer. i got one fitted on my old corsa by a bloke on ebay and my mate found out the other day you could disable the alarm and immobiliser by pulling a fuse....

pulling a fuse from where exactly?
mine had a popper trigger thing under the bonnet so as soon as the pressure released from it, the alarm would go off (fuse box under bonnet)
also i have a fuse box behind my glove box and if you even touch the door handles it will set the alarm off.

All about Toad.. Not sure what Cliffords are like these days but they always used to be unreliable pieces of shit.
Personally I think if the car has got a proper CAT2 factory immoboliser an alarm is a waste of time, nobody cares about an alarm going off these days.

he said unless the alarm has got a direct 12v feed from the battery you just pull the fuse for whatever live the alarm ecu is tapped into. it also has a fail safe so the car can be started if the alarm doesnt work. fair enough there are loads of fuses in the box but still thats not really the point.

the mk1 cliffords were shite but the mk2s are alot more reliable, i had one fitted to my old mr2 and the downside is it was very sensitive - i didnt completely shut the passenger door when i armed the alarm and it decided to set off at 3am in a small cul-de-sac i almost didnt want to step outside the house to go to work

very good alarm never had a problem with mine, and can have everything consevable aded to it, remote start, tilt sensor's, plus it pages the key fob up to a mile away saying its been broken into and tells you where they have entered.

Cat1, Outside and inside proximity sensors also has modes for remote start and turbo timer.
Used to have a toad, but not as good value for money as the clifford i have now!
