for the people with stripped interiors running with no door cards (or maybe carbon cards) how have you gone about mounting the interior door handles?

A mate of mine had a length of a timing belt to close the door. Also used the same thing for the "Jesus Christ" handle too!

I mean the handle on the inside so you can get out! The standard item is attached to the door card. ATM he just yanks on the cable, but we need a proper solution

why did he cut the handle off? should of left the handel on and cut round it, would make a small pulley with a grap handel on the end of the cable/rod so just pull it to open the door?

Who said the handle was cut off? The handle is attached to the door cards, so if you take them out you don't have a handle, you have to pull the cable to open the door.

What im looking for is a new handle with base which can be mounted on the door, and wondered if theres any such thing available

If it's a bowden cable then you'll probably find something off another car that will suit.

Do you have pics of the coupling?

The end of the cable just has a U shape hook on the end.

The dash came out when it was 2 years old

That metal panel looks ripe for removal - is it bolted in?

Most of the weight is still in that door. Removing a bit of plastic was probably a waste of time.

Fiesta or Puma handles would do. I'll get you a pic of mine. Just a lever that pulls on the cable.

Why do that to a nearly new car?

Or did it have faults so was used as a track car?

Sweet, do they have the base built into them too?

I think further weight reductions may be made soon (prob over winter), not too sure on the window situation though, as the regulators bolt onto the inner skin. Could look at polycarb windows though

Bonney - nah, the guy who owns it just felt like doing it. He's said he will own it for life anyway. Probally spent well over £25k on it (bought it brand new) in 4 years

I would imagine so. May even be worth sourcing a few different types and selling what you don't use. Problem that you might have is that the lever dimensions will be different for different cars/locks so you might end up needing to pull the handle further than it's designed to go and it might foul the casing, or alternatively the handle might not move as far but be stiffer to operate, which may stress the fulcrum.

Trial and error I think

Also if you're interested in polycarb windows, check my thread in Projects.
