I've driven both, the 1.2 16v is a rocket compared to them.

if you couldn't stand the 1.2 8v you won't stand the 1.0

i had the 1.2 my mate had the 1.0, the 1.0 has more top end by about 3% but the 1.2 has more low/mid by about 3.1%

Very unbareable, had mine 3 years now but i didn't buy it for performance, good on petrol, cheap insurance, cheap to run and keeps me out of trouble.

They are very slow. I cant think of many cars that are slower to be honest lol. little bit quicker than the 1.2 8v's but only slightly.

Great NCB builders though and stupidly economical! Managed 70 miles on £5 the other week in mine

i have a 1.0l 12v now.

Ecpecially going from a golf gti its shockingly slow. Didnt even think my 1.2 8v was as slow many years back.

But they are really good on petrol and awesome on insurance - group 1. O and they sound kinda like a washing machine when pushed hard.

3 cylinders ftw

I've had my 12v 2 and half years now. They are boringly slow, I can't wait to getta new car which'll hopefully be early next year, espc since I drive my sisters Clio 172 Cup and dads Golf GT TDI quite often, I'm so sick of having such a slow car now.

The 1.2 8v is 45bhp and the 12v is 54bhp. That's the book figures anyway. Mine, Fonz's and Deano's all made different power and torque.

It's proper slow, I only bought it for the low insurance. Can't really complain for £100 though, drop an XE1 in it tbh.
