The mrs keeps on at me about renting an apartment.

just looking for an estimate at how much its going to cost per month, e.g. all bills, council tax etc.....

only after something small as its just for us two.

any advice appreciated.

(buying is not an option)

As a very rough guide id say budget around a grand all in - to include taxes, water/electric/gas/phone/tv/broadband etc assuming rent is 400ish on a smallish apartment!?

Kurt for me (Lincolnshire so midlands??)

Rent - £450, nothing included

2 bed mid terraced, brand new refurb inside, but its relatively underpriced (in our opinion) for what was in the area at the time. No parking space or garden though

new apartments are shoting up around here every other week, just dont think i could pay £12,000 a year, and still not own anything

and if i did rent then i wouldnt have any spare money to put towards a deposit on a mortgage so i would be stuck renting.

ive been telling her that im not moving until i can affor to buy.

thanks lads

You may be paying a lot a year, but most of the time mortgage prices arent much different from renting...

And after so many years the house will be yours.

yea i know thats what i was getting at, if i rented i wouldnt have the money to save for a depisit on a mortgage, so it would be hard to get out of renting.

I know your situation mate, im weighing-up renting at the mo

But ive come to the conclusion that if i stay at home (parents) then im not paying out for rent, council tax, bills etc.. so this cash can go straight into the savings account to go towards the deposit on buying my own place.

Throwing money away that could be saved up and put towards something of your own, not just paying off some cunts mortgage for them

I dont want to be renting, much rather buying, but Im still at uni so cant get a mortgage, plus together we are on 25k a year ish, so when I get a job in July sometime should hopefully jump to £30k as my GF will quit her second job (she doesnt need it, she just loves having lots of money ) and I will lose the income from my current part time - mortgage time then when house prices are still low
