I'm looking for live versions of Linux to use. Have ubuntu and suse on my laptop at the minute but Windows Vista doesn't like it too much as it's running like a dog.

Get Vmware Server and run it as a virtual machine? Ran fine for me on Vista.

Aye, you can use VMware server or VMware workstation. However, it doesn't do to well with with USB Ports etc. Windows will still take control, as it does.

I want to be able to look at hard drives etc and recover data from them but no install tons of crap on my Windows system with regards Windows picking up a new hardware device and then installing the drivers.
