A few months ago, i had the problem of my heaters not getting very warm.

I changed the thermostat as it was stuck open and the problem seemed solved.

But now, when i put the heaters on, they stay hot for a few mins, then just go colder. If i turn them off for a few mins the process repeats. (nice and hot, then go colder)

The car does not overheat etc.

Any ideas??

I was thinking the water system may possibly need flushing perhaps

Air-lock, take the cap off the expansion bottle and fire it up...

Let it bubble over slightly and your problem should be sorted...

I've had some heater probs, was dead simple for me, heaters weren't getting hot but no other problems, no HG issues.. turned out the cable from the temp control knob had some off a couple of clips which hold it taught and it wasn't pulling the cable enough to make hot air run though lol

Not very technically written there but hey ho, dunno if it's worth a shot, can usually feel for it behind the left hand side of centre console behind radio etc

Yep water level is spot on.

Heater cables are all connected too.

Going to try the running without the expansion tank cap on tonight.

It can indeed be a blocked heater matrix but the pipes can be a pain to get off, half the time you end up cutting them so you dont break the heater matrix.

Had this once on a friends car and flushing it with a hosepipe for a while in both directions cured it.

Always have plenty of antifreeze in your water because it stops the matrix and all metal parts from being corroded by the coolant

Will probably be a pain with the engine in but its possible, like I say you will probably end up cutting the pipes to get them off but as long as its not been done before they should still be long enough to go back on.

Worth a try for a couple of hours work, I know someone whose blowers didnt work and he had to drive with the windows open when it was snowing to stop the window steaming up........
