very small problem with my engine
doesnt like being stood without rev's
also wen car is first started u can plan ure foot into the rev or it trys to stall?
also problems wen going through the gears seems to struggle in low revs then seems to go ok?

any ideas

already replaced the ICV and Lamba sensor with brand new parts and they didnt help

cud it be ECu related as its a new engine swap into a 1.2 8v

My money is on Air Flow Meter.

Paperclip test.....do a search, been covered hundreds of times.

could be an air leak bud, is your eml on? have just replaced the tps on my gsi and forgot to connect a vaccum pipe and it just died when i revved it.

yea mate, EML comes on after about 5 min driving. could be a airleak how cud i check?

It'd most likely idle high if it was an airleak.

try an get the car at idle speed then get some wd40 or carb cleaner and lightly spray round the inlet and you will here the revs on the engine should go up on there own,

and as dean said it wud rev at about 1500 if it was an airleak and then bog out when you try to throttle it, i wud go with air flow or tps stuck

yea that sounds like it, about 1500 revs then it starts to bog out if u plan ure foot!
any way to check for an airlock

the tps is the throttle position sensor, went on mine, new one cost me £40 and brought a new icv aswell. runs fine now any joy finding out how to do the paperclip test?

na i cudnt get it work at all lol, i honestly have no cluebout engines etc, bodywork i can do anythign but under the bonnet i need help!
