on the side of the engine, next to the dizzy its got CC on it.. does this mean its a coscast head?

Nope. If it's a coscast it'll say it.

It's upsidedown (for some reason).

The top of the pic is the bottom of the head in the middle.

Can't remember if it's on the inlet side or the exhaust side.

You can still tell by looking at the side of the head because it won't have an oil gallery core plug.
