Astra GTE mk2's ALL had redtops. Not all had the Coscast head though. mk1's came with 8v motors. Many many novas and corsas now have redtops!

Coscast head. This is good yes? Difference it makes compared to one without? How do you know if it has a coscast head?

coscast head is good. was developed by cosworth like most of the engine. there will be coscast stampted on the head u will just have to look for it.

All MK2 GTE's did not have redtops there were 8v's aswell.

Yes and there were also 1.8 8v engines in the GTE as well as 2.0 8v and 2.0 16v...

I don't know.

The guy I bought my alloys off has a mk2 Astra GTE with a 1.8 8v engine. Looks the same as the 2.0 8v engine.

I thought the 1.8 8v was an SRi.

2.0litre 8v n 16v were GTE.

No there were 1.8 8v GTEs as well Daimo, just like there are 1.8 16v Astra GSis.

Total Vaux did a run down on all the engines that were fitted to each model and how to work out your engine code, i'll have a look later if I get time.
