Ok, on the escort I have clicking noise its fast when it starts doing it , like click click clickety click - as if somethings loose.

Ive jacked it up this afternoon and nothing is visibly loose.

Took it to the industrial estate to see what the symptoms were and they are as follows.

Drive straight along a nice smooth road and it will make no noise , however do the same but shake the wheel from side to side quickly and it will do it.

Drive along a bumpy road and its all you fooking here.

Any ideas ?

Ball joints were done recently.

Sounds like something is loose/hanging off. Hard to explain !

it may not be though, my girls had a broken spring and it didnt sit to the side but had similar symptoms to yours.

cv joint.....Defo as i had the same sound on my xe corsa..and was the cv joint

Just had the inner CV joints done ! It doesnt do it on full lock , only over bumps etc !

Metal/rubber bit which bolts to the car and the strut, yeah.
