The diesel engine is far superior to the petrol engine.

CDTi - no contest. Drove both in one day at my old driving place (off road underage driving).

Saw 95+ in the CDTi - 1.2 wouldnt get close.

i've got the 1.2 and a mate has the 1.3, when he first got his my 1.2 was quicker! since he has put a tuning box on it its some what quicker than mine and is very much so when we have people in the cars with us. also feels nicer to drive. as for the 1.2 not seeing 95, must have been fucked of somthing because mine will pull 100 5 up (by the corsa clock like)

hope that helps mate

Modern VX lumps..

VXR's doesn't need servicing until 20,000 miles or 1 year.

I'd also go for the 1.3 CDTi. Good little engines, plenty of torque. I didn't like the 1.2 16v at all. Needed revving to get out of junctions etc (quite dangerous tbh), it whines like a pig, all the way up the rev range it doesn't seem to get any quicker/pull any more. It'll sit at 90mph all day happily, but getting the bugger going.

1.3 CDTi will have LOADS more power low down the rev range, it'll be just as quick top end, it won't have that horrible distinctive 1.2 whine, and it'll be a bit better on juice.

The 1.3 engines are made by a Polish company and aren't VX engines.

Plus if you give them a bit of a hammering they aren't that good on fuel.
