I was going to put new discs on the front of my corsa.
The retaining screw was snapped does this mean that the only thing holding the disc on there is the caliper and the fact there is a wheel bolted there
Even with it snapped I still could not get the disc off the hub

The wheel bolts will hold the disc on, will be fine.

Do they normally need some sort of bih hammer blow to get the discs off.
I didnt want to damage the disc was using a rubber mallet for a wile but it didnt move.
WD40 maybe.

Are you putting the discs back on? If not then just hammer them a bit from behind.

Noep they have a massive lip on the top and bottom so going to change them for brand new ones.
Will try again with a metal hammer and the retaining screw isnt too important

The only reason why i would be hesitant in paling an old disc off if i'm replacing with a new one is if the disc is utterly corroded to an extent that the disc will snap off the hub part.
