Taking my old 1.6 16v engine out of the GSI N reg 1995 for an S reg Sport 1.6 16v engine! reason: old engine none runner, new engine 62k miles and mint
Just want to know if these engines are the same or how can i tell.. I havnt got the new engine just yet but just making sure 100% that its going to be a straight swop and if they are different what will i need to change etc..
I dont think you will be able to tell from the pics but the engines look exatly the same. (some parts missing from mine)

Your gsi one has an ecotec cover so should be an x16xe like the top one as you also have the SAI system.

There the same.

Both X16XEs.
2 quickest things to check are the silver valve thing on the exhaust manifold, and the colour of the inlet. If it's silver, it's an X, if it's black, it's a C.
