just wondering if i did a system restore if i would lose all my msn contacts at all??
also how would i keep all my software i have
do i just copy the files from the program files in C drive to a external hard drive then copy them back after restore??

if u actually mean system restore it only deletes files that have changed, it wont delete your programs but it might not think they are installed anymore.
If you mean system format then yes copy all the files u want to keep to a CD / DVD / Ext hard drive and format. For programs u need the installers (not the files its unlikely these will work at all if not without fault if u just copy the contents back again)

No!
msn is held on the server, not on your machine mate.
I would recommend making an additional partition (a gig or 2, and you can use partition magic etc..) and copy your crucial files to that partition.
