When the clunk, they are broke. But they are reletively in-expensive, and as you have it all apart you could do the lot...

The boot which split on my Corsa resulted in a fucked CV joint on that side, but it only became obvious it was knackered when the boot had been done and the joint was full of grease again.
For the money they cost, I'd do them while you've got the car in bits.
