Ill be having the engine out of my corsa sometime soon, and was wondering what would be involoved in cleaning and spraying it.

Quite fancy putting it halfords satin black, would it need to be rubbed down & primer first, or seeing as its only the engine bay, could i just spray right away after cleaning?
