i had my fan belt replaced some time in Feburary because it was squeeling, and due to the floods etc, its started back up again.

Does this mean i have to go and buy a new one again or can i just take it off and put it back on?

if so how do i fit them?

thanks

what ever fits the nut

Dont do it too tight or it will either snap or bend the spindle on the alternator

the more electrical load there is on the alternator, the more resistance it will give hence making the belt slip, just loosen the locking bolt to the top of the alternator, put a bar behind it and put a bit more tension on the belt, not too much or you will damage the bearings in the alternator. then tighten the bolt back up. 5 minute job max

If you just have a look under the bonnet you will see what needs to be done.

You need to undo the top bracket, wedge a bar between the alternator and engine for leverage and pull on the bar to tension the belt.

Get someone to do the bar bit, you can then tighten the top braket back up when you get the required tension.

Go for it!
