Whats the generic rule for this,
is the power of the amp meant to be more than the sub or the other way round?
i know that your meant to match the ohm rating.
looking at an Kenwood 800w RMS mono D amp to a 1000w RMW DB Raptor

General rule is use a amp slightly more powerful than the sub, as you can turn the amp down to suit the sub, where as if the sub is more powerful, nothing can be done to make them match.

and if you have an amp not powerful enough and you dont know what your doing you can blow the sub, moral of the story, have someone on hand who knows what they are doing
