hey,
suddenly decided that i really fancy havin a shot a semi smoothing a tailgate...gona try pick one up at the scappies tomorrow on the cheap to practice on first...been reading through the fiberglassin guide in the tutorials section and i understand it all apart from the section where it is advised to cut zigzags into the metal to prevent the fibre glass from poppin out...what would i use to cut the zigzags? angle grinder? and where exactly is it i need to cut the zigzags?
cheers

weld a plate over the lock and wiper holes before you fill it up with fibreglass otherwise it will sink within no time

well am gona get maself a tailgate from the scrappies, been quoted £30 quid for the shell and materials will be bout a tenner from work so a gd wee project for the holidays me thinks...gt a welder down the road, you think there would be a lot of work involved in welding two plates to the underside?
expire did you follow the guide in the tutorials section? did u cut zigzags into the metal work?
also, what is a dremel? is it like a wirebrush attachment for a drill that takes the bodywork down to the metal quickly?
cheers

the plates only need to be tacked, shouldnt take too long.
make sure you dont get it too hot and warp the tailgate tho, or you'll be trying to get the filler right for hours
